Bee Fly

A bee fly

I had never seen an insect like this, and at the time I thought it was a strange type of bee based on the coloring and size. Apparently it’s a Bee Fly, which isn’t at all related to a bee, it’s actually a nectar eating fly. According to Wikipedia, it’s one of the most unknown species of insects for its size.

I put this shot in, not because it was my favorite ever, but so you can see its face. Like a perfect hybrid between a fly and a bee.
